What is Chorus?

Chorus in the Omaha Public Schools is part of the weekly elementary curriculum and is included in every elementary school.  Since it is part of the school day, school rules and guidelines are the same as if they were in general music class.

Chorus meets once a week for 25 minutes.  During this time, if the classroom teacher gives school assignments, chorus students will be responsible for these assignments.  There is a three-strike attendance policy.  If a student has been in attendance in their regular class all day and chooses not to attend a chorus rehearsal, then they get a strike.  Once they have three strikes they can no longer participate in chorus.  Being absent from school will not count against them.  It is important that students selected are able to make the rehearsals.  This is something extra, yet very beneficial to all students.
